Johnny Tan

Johnny Tan is a professional keynote speaker, author, talk show host and founder of From My Mama’s Kitchen®.  He entertains and inspires audiences with a fresh perspective on personal leadership through his warm and lighthearted storytelling style.  As Your Communication Chef, Johnny speaks about the power of relationships, the nature of love, and the meaning of life.  

His "Synergy in 3 Easy Steps" workshops offer helpful guidance and practical recipes for living. These strategies encourage audiences to sharpen their non-verbal and verbal communication skills in order to create respect, trust and cooperation in their personal and professional relationships.  Audiences will learn how to enrich their lives through conscious living, creating opportunities to leave a legacy of love for others to benefit from and follow. 

Johnny’s FMMK Talk Radio has amassed over one million listeners, and ranks in the top 1% of Blog Talk Radio's most popular shows.  The show’s topics address family matters, relationships, community diversity, personal growth, health and wellness, spirituality, and conscious living.  Guests have included Amy Newark, publisher of Chicken Soup for the Soul, The New York Times bestselling authors, experts in the field of personal and professional relationships, and artists.

Johnny authored the 2009 award-winning and bestselling book, From My Mama’s Kitchen - food for the soul, recipes for living, to honor his 9 moms.  The book chronicles the unconditional love and motherly wisdom he received from his moms.  In 2015, he was invited to share his story in the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom, edition.  His story, “Thanks To My Nine Moms,” was the lead story in the chapter titled, The Other Moms in Our Lives.  Johnny's story, “What I Learned from My First Thanksgiving,” was featured in the 2016 Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Power of Gratitude, collection.

Johnny’s leadership experience extends from being a corporate Chief Operating Officer for eight years to owning his own business.  He also served his community as chairman of the Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitor Bureau in 2001, commissioner of the Baton Rouge Sister Cities Commission in 2000, chairman of the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Committee in 1998, chairman of “Project Baton Rouge 2020—a Vision of Opportunity with a World of Possibility,” for Forum 35, a young professional Social Services Organization in 1997, and president of the Louisiana Restaurant Association Baton Rouge Chapter in 1995.

In 2000, Johnny pursued his passion for ballroom dancing.  He trained with the late Betty Tamas, a distinguished ballroom dance instructor in Baton Rouge.  In Dallas, he received training from world champions Gocha Cherkoev and Shorena Gachechiladze.  In 2005, he started teaching private and group ballroom dancing lessons.  Since forming a professional partnership with Margaret Kochan in 2013, Johnny and his dance partner have performed with a variety of organizations, including the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, Angels of Dance Annual Gala benefiting the Susan G Komen Foundation, and the Women In Need, Inc.  According to Johnny, “Dancing with heart and passion creates a lifetime of bliss in a three-and-a-half-minute song.”   To learn more about Johnny, visit: www.JohnnyTan.com

Margaret Kochan

Margaret (Malgorzata) Kochan has taught ballroom dancing for over 20 years.  In Poland, she received her training from the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow, and the School of Arts and Culture, in Warsaw.  In the US, she earned an Advanced Ballroom Teaching Certification from Fred Astaire Dance Studios, Inc.

Margaret specializes in all American and International ballroom styles including Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, Country & Western and Cardio Ballroom.  She continues to refine her dancing and teaching skills, working with world class performers and coaches. Michael Mead, Toni Redpath, Jim and Jenell Maranto, Felipe and Carolina Telona, Christy Cote’ and George Garcia, to name a few.

Margaret’s entrepreneurial spirit and passion for dancing led her to establish A Dance to Remember studio in Rockwall, Texas in 2008.  As the premier studio in the greater Rockwall area, A Dance to Remember – Where memories are created, provides a friendly comfortable environment for everyone to learn, enjoy, and experience the wonderful world of dancing.  Affectionately known as Dr. Dance, a title given to her by her students, Margaret had taught over 1000 local dancers since she moved to Texas in 1999.

She and her students have performed at events throughout the greater Rockwall and Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Margaret served five years as the principal coach and advisor to the Rockwall County Alliance for the Arts in their primary fundraiser, Dancing with the Stars.  She has been the choreographer for the Rockwall Chapter of the National Charity League – Annual Debutante Ball, designing and teaching a Father-Daughter Senior Waltz presentation for the last 6 years.  After forming a professional partnership with Johnny Tan in 2013, Margaret and her dance partner have performed with a variety of organizations, including the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, Angels of Dance Annual Gala benefiting the Susan G Komen Foundation, and the Women In Need, Inc.
