Johnny Tan is a professional keynote speaker, author, talk show host and founder of From My Mama’s Kitchen®.  He entertains and inspires audiences with a fresh perspective on personal leadership through his warm and lighthearted storytelling style.  As Your Communication Chef, Johnny speaks about the power of relationships, the nature of love, and the meaning of life.

His "Synergy in 3 Easy Steps" workshops offer helpful guidance and practical recipes for living. These strategies encourage audiences to sharpen their non-verbal and verbal communication skills in order to create respect, trust and cooperation in their personal and professional relationships.  Audiences will learn how to enrich their lives through conscious living, creating opportunities to leave a legacy of love for others to benefit from and follow.

Johnny’s FMMK Talk Radio has amassed over one million listeners, and ranks in the top 1% of Blog Talk Radio's most popular shows.  The show’s topics address family matters, relationships, community diversity, personal growth, health and wellness, spirituality, and conscious living.  Guests have included Amy Newark, publisher of Chicken Soup for the Soul, The New York Times bestselling authors, experts in the field of personal and professional relationships, and artists.

Johnny authored the 2009 award-winning and bestselling book, From My Mama’s Kitchen - food for the soul, recipes for living, to honor his 9 moms.  The book chronicles the unconditional love and motherly wisdom he received from his moms.  In 2015, he was invited to share his story in the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom, edition.  His story, “Thanks To My Nine Moms,” was the lead story in the chapter titled, The Other Moms in Our Lives.  Johnny's story, “What I Learned from My First Thanksgiving,” was featured in the 2016 Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Power of Gratitude, collection.

Johnny’s leadership experience extends from being a corporate Chief Operating Officer for eight years to owning his own business.  He also served his community as chairman of the Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitor Bureau in 2001, commissioner of the Baton Rouge Sister Cities Commission in 2000, chairman of the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Committee in 1998, chairman of “Project Baton Rouge 2020—a Vision of Opportunity with a World of Possibility,” for Forum 35, a young professional Social Services Organization in 1997, and president of the Louisiana Restaurant Association Baton Rouge Chapter in 1995.

In 2000, Johnny pursued his passion for ballroom dancing.  He trained with the late Betty Tamas, a distinguished ballroom dance instructor in Baton Rouge.  In Dallas, he received training from world champions Gocha Cherkoev and Shorena Gachechiladze.  In 2005, he started teaching private and group ballroom dancing lessons.  Johnny and his dance partners have performed for a variety of organizations in Baton Rouge, and in the DFW area, including the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, Angels of Dance Annual Gala benefiting the Susan G Komen Foundation, and the Women In Need, Inc.  According to Johnny, “Dancing with heart and passion creates a lifetime of bliss in a three-and-a-half-minute song.”
